Well, at least it is before Christmas 2019, right? As I am looking at the photos, I am trying to remember what all we did. It looks like we drove to Eau Claire and had Christmas #1 at my parents' house, then went to my cousin's house in the Twin Cities, and then back to Eau Claire to hang out with the Robertson family.
Here are some photos from our family Christmas 2018.
On Christmas Eve day, we traveled to Centerville, MN to have Christmas with my extended family. The Snustad lineage has been getting together for Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember. In my memory there is only one year where we didn't get together and that was because of weather. It is always a good time - a taco bar, cookies, card games, board games, present opening, and an annual shabuck tournament.
This is shabuck. The object of the game is to get 5 of the circular discs into each of the lots at the end. Then there are two others are free other slots. My grandpa made this game and has been a staple tradition in our family. The winner of the tournament even gets a trophy (that my grandpa also made).
My cousin's family sets up a photo booth too, which is pretty fun.
And my sister-in-law started this tradition. We have Secret Santa for the adults (once you are in high school you join the Secret Santa mix). One year, Mandy added this hat with the mix. Now the hat gets passed on from last year's recipient to the following year's. I have a feeling my year is coming up, I have yet to have it. Oh, and part of the rule is you have to wear it to work and get your picture taken in it. If I do win, maybe I could play the no hats allowed in school rule card. . .
We headed to Nick's parents' house for the rest of our holiday celebrations. Everyone is watching the remote control truck drive around the backyard. Lots of time was spent with the remote control truck, playing with new toys and old, and hanging out with the cousins.
The girls received the game The Floor is Lava. It is kind of like Twister in that there is a spinner and you need to go to that color spot (without touching the floor of course). There are question cards and tasks the kids need to do.
The cousins and family worked together to make a fleece blanket to donate. Taboo was also played, which is always a big hit.
I have no recollection of this, but apparently we went to the Eau Claire Children's Museum. Now that I see the pictures, I remember they had a need science demo in their Failspace and we spent a ton of time there.
Lilly's favorite, favorite, favorite part of the museum is the crawl through digestive system where as you crawl through it makes digestive noises and you end up in the toilet.
After lots of fun and adventures in Eau Claire, we headed back to Ashland. We have found having five or so days back before we have to get back in the swing of school is really great. We relax, hang out, have a great time playing with new toys, and decompress after the different days at different homes, poor sleep, and chaos. We went to see Mary Poppins Returns and spent lots of time playing outside both in our yard and at Lilly's elementary school on the giant piles of snow.
I cleaned and organized the junk drawer. And I can proudly say almost a year later - it is still organized! If that isn't an accomplishment, I'm not sure what is!
Nick of course spent some time paddling. They went paddling on New Year's Day.

We then had our Christmas with my brother and his family and my parents. We had a great time opening presents, sharing laughs and enjoying one another's company.

I'm catching up on my Robertson Reading!! An official "the Floor Is Lava" game! Maybe we should market an official "Perimeter" game... :) You're motivating me to catch up on the 15 months I'm behind on our blog. Yikes...
