Lilly's Birthday!

Six!  I cannot believe Lilly is six years old (nearly 6.5 years old now!).  The poor girl was sick for most of her birthday week, only making it to school two of the five days that week.  Luckily she was well by Friday and able to celebrate her birthday with her friends, bringing cupcakes to school.

Per usual, we decorated the house with sixes the night before her birthday, which fell on a Saturday.  I am particularly proud of the unicorn birthday poster.  We woke up in the morning, Lilly opened presents and we played with the toys and hung out.

Lilly got this beach star toss game, but why not play in the snow?
Lilly had leftover cupcakes from what she brought to school, so we used those for her birthday cake on her birthday.  We'd make some cupcakes later for her birthday party.

Lilly didn't have a birthday party on her actual birthday because that night was the father daughter dance night.  Nick was dreading it, nervous that the flashing lights would spark a migraine, and the fact that he hates dancing.  Lilly, of course, was delighted and couldn't wait.  It is a fundraiser for the PTO at school and is attended by nearly everyone.  It is so popular, they have it two nights.

We didn't want Greta to feel left out, so Greta and I went out to dinner and had a delightful time.  We played go fish to pass the time while we waited for our food and had some delicious food.  On our way out, the elderly couple at the table next to us complimented on what a great patron Greta was.

Nick and Lilly headed off to the dance.  Lilly's friend Hailey was there, so they danced some.  Lilly and Nick didn't really dance, but did play a lot of hangman.  They left early but seemed to have a good time together.  I love that Lilly sees this outfit as just so dressed up and fancy :)

Playing chess, one of her presents.  Thanks Emily for mentioning
this ages ago in your blog, Lilly loves No Stress Chess!
The following Saturday we had her birthday party.  Friends over for playing, presents, and lunch.  It was a fun gathering of friends and over in a pretty decent amount of time.

Getting cupcakes ready

Apparently she had enough of the party, and tucked
herself away by the dishwasher!
She's enjoying being six and had a great birthday and birthday party.

  1. No Stress Chess for the win! :) I really prefer it MYSELF because for some reason I find choosing my own chess move proves just too stressful. Ha!!

I, too, am doing the blog catchup. Today my goal is to get February done. Yeesh. But, I just ready my mom's handwritten journals from 1986-1988 so I'm reinspired to create this written history at least a little bit, a present to myself 30 years down the road. :)

Hope you're having a great summer!
