Over the past few weeks, I've had lots of grading to do, so have been preventing myself from blogging, hoping that it would help motivate me to get my grading taken care of. While I am not totally caught up, I did make some good headway today. So I am allowing myself a few minutes to share some Halloween photos.
Greta told us weeks ago she wanted to be a truck driver. Thinking this was an awesome idea, I did my work to make sure that she didn't let the sway of her big sister and what she was going to be influence her choice. It worked! Greta was a truck driver for Halloween!
Lilly started out wanting to be a queen butterfly. We spent time trying to figure out a costume and had a plan for material to make wings. Then she decided she was going to just wear a princess dress, butterfly wings we already had, a crown, so all we needed to make were her antennae. Sweet. An essentially labor-free costume. But then she changed her mind and decided to be a witch. So my awesome mom went shopping for us in Eau Claire and brought up the materials to make her a witch costume. Lilly helped some and I did some work as well, so it was a true team effort.
Everyone participated in making costumes this year. Greta and Lilly helped glue the paper onto the box for Greta's costume, Nick amped up the complexity of Greta's costume and adjusted it so it didn't look like a truck going downhill. My mom made a construction vest for Greta that she did not like and refused to wear. It was awesome though.
I have to say, I am very proud of this costume.

We heard lots of "oh cute!" when people saw Greta. We also realized a child in a box is not easy to carry.

This house had Lilly seriously spooked. She was very apprehensive about getting candy. But the lure of candy got her to the creepy guy in a costume for her treat.

It was a chilly night, so snow pants and jackets required!
We ran into Greta's best bud, Korra.

Lilly really wanted to pass out candy. She waited patiently and ended up only giving out candy to one kid. Here you can see the rest of the witch ensemble, sans winter clothes
