Here is a photo recap from the end of spring/early summer. I am realizing I am much further behind than I originally thought, so forgive me for the longer post.
Normally, my dad helps us put in our garden Memorial Day Weekend but this year it was the shelves. So we were responsible for putting in the plants ourselves. This year though we had some children who were willing to help - and Lilly was willing to help and capable of actually helping. She was in charge of the broccoli all by herself.
I think I have been successful in rabbit proofing the fence and we haven't noticed any more parts of our broccoli and peppers missing.
The girls are big fans of parks and have decided the Lake Park is their new favorite. Perhaps a part of the reason is we have to pass Dairy Queen on our way to the park . . .
Okay, so as I go back through the photos, I have one longer post from the past to take care of. I will wrap this one up here and do a post on our trip to Brainerd at the end of April later. Now it is time to make the grocery list and hit up the grocery store before needing to haul kids along. Thanks for sticking around to the end!

We went to Tetzner's Greenhouse and picked up some plants. We also checked out the baby goats.
Our garden has been attacked this year by an adorable baby bunny. The girls, especially Greta, love sightings of the bunny. And if I am honest, I think the bunny is adorable too. This softens the blow that comes when the peppers and broccoli started missing more and more pieces.

Nick goes paddling every Friday morning. One of the men he paddles with has two dogs. Last year he would always bring one dog along, the other too young. This summer though it is time to train the younger dog on the ways of paddling on Lake Superior. Nick now paddles with the older dog on his board. One morning, Filson was on his board. When they approached the shore, Filson jumped off the board, shooting Nick's board backwards and tipping him into the water, his sunglasses falling off his head. That evening, our friends Tim and Elizabeth came over. Elizabeth related this story to Lilly, who then illustrated the story.
A few Fridays ago, the girls and I had a picnic lunch at the Lake Park. It is fun to watch Lilly at parks, she is so willing to play with whatever other kids are there and negotiates the whole "what will we play" game so well. Greta and I just watch her play while Greta swings.
Here are some photos from a hike we did this spring, Copper Falls, which is about 30 minutes south of Ashland. With all the rain this spring, the falls were amazing.
Lilly walked nearly the entire hike herself. She needed some encouragement and counting the stairs was just the motivation our nerdy child needed to keep going.
Here are some other miscellaneous photos.
A trip to Bayfield and the Coast Guard park.

"and counting the stairs was just the motivation our nerdy child needed to keep going." Ha! Love it! We were on a hike a couple days ago and did the "I wonder how far we can get in 100 steps!?!" with Caleb. Worked beautifully, even past 100. :)
