First Summer Monday

Neither of our girls have ever become super attached to any kind of stuffed animal, doll, blanket - no kind of comfort object really.  Greta has certainly an affinity for her dolls, especially Baby Julius, but even he gets kicked out of her crib.  Lilly has some stuffed animals, unicorns in particular, that start in her bed but she quickly kicks them out (even puts them in her dresser drawers).  Every now and again though one of the stuffed animals will travel with us.  After Lilly was dropped off at kindergarten bootcamp, Greta and I made a trip to the park, bringing along her stuffed deer.  The deer was able to explore the entire playground with her.

After that we went to pick up Lilly and headed to the library for Granny Goose, story stretcher art, and book check out.  Granny Goose read stories about dads in anticipation of Father's Day.  At story stretcher art, Greta made a blob out of model magic and was so proud of, we needed to make a pit stop at Nick's work to show him what she made.  Unfortunately, I think it stayed in the car, so you don't get to see a picture of it.
What a difference a few years makes

Lilly's unicorn . .

In the afternoon we hung out in the pool and then the girls created a new game, cleaning and spent a good 20 minutes washing the back deck. Lilly has been listening to both Henry Huggins and Clementine, so her imaginary game involved both of those stories.  She was Henry Huggins' little sister, I was Henry (and Mrs. Quimby and Mrs. Huggins and Ramona at one point).  We were friends with Clementine and Margaret.  Margaret is a germaphobe, so Lilly was in the Get rid of Germs club - the motivation for cleaning the deck for so long.

We also went to the Lake Park at the end of the day, Greta is obsessed with going to parks and swinging at the moment.  Nick and I decided last minute we didn't want to cook, so we went out to dinner.  When we got back home - the girls got back in the pool.  This time, Greta didn't get in her swimsuit, just got right in her clothes.

The final big excitement of the day, we saw an adorable baby bunny.  We think it lives in the hosta bush in the corner of our yard - or at least that is where it seems to be hanging out and hiding each time we see it.  Greta's favorite animals are bunnies (remember the bunny, away, fast period of her life?), so she was super stoked.

Peeking at it after bedtime snack

So cute!!!

And, an update, this is what my classroom looks like now:
