Easter Recap

So I don't have much to say because it happened so long ago, but here are some photos from Easter, when my parents came up to visit.  Probably should have done this post essentially at the same time as Greta's birthday, since it was all one big party but oh well!

First, Lilly's mind was blown by science.  We put vinegar in a balloon and baking soda in the bottle.  Then poured the vinegar from the balloon into the bottle and the balloon blew up.  Lilly's reaction was priceless.

Saturday morning, Nick and I slept in and they played Play-doh.  Dinosaurs were a common theme this weekend.

We went to the Easter Egg "hunt" on the courthouse lawn.  Much better than last year when they were on the gym floor of the Bretting Center.  We got there right as the 5 and 6 year olds were starting their hunt, so Lilly didn't get many eggs.  But the kind women volunteers took pity on Lilly and brought her a bunch of eggs.

Lilly would only pose for a picture with the Easter Bunny if
my mom was in the photo with her.  Greta seems fairly suspicious
of the experience as well

It took Greta awhile to get into the egg hunt

Lilly parked herself in the stroller to avoid all the chaos

Greta's birthday was just before Easter weekend.  My parents gave Greta one more present, a doll bed my mom made.  My Aunt Julie had made one for her granddaughter years ago and I thought it would be great for Greta and her doll obsession.  It is a storage bin with a sheet, blanket, and pillow on top as the bed.  Then you can store doll clothes and doll accessories inside.  Pretty great.  And both girls love it.

One of Lilly's favorite things to do with my parents is "magic carpet," where she sits in a blanket and my parents carry and swing her around.  There were rides in laundry baskets this visit.

Greta and my dad opened all the paper bags - more evidence for why when you have kids, you can never really keep your house clean and organized.

One of the goals I had for the weekend was to finally use up the rest of the tomatoes I had from the garden last year.  After cooking them down, Lilly helped strain the tomatoes.  We then turned these into salsa and spaghetti sauce.  I think 14 cups of salsa and 6 cups of spaghetti sauce - probably more of each actually.

It being Easer, we of course had to dye eggs

Lilly walked around taking pictures and got this gem

Sunday was the visit from the Easter Bunny.  Both baskets were hidden, Lilly's a little trickier than Greta's.
Digging through the stuffed animal bin (it wasn't in there)
Monday, Lilly put together the dinosaur Legos the Easter Bunny brought

My mom really enjoys yoga.  We have a stack of yoga cards from her and Lilly, and now Greta, really enjoy doing yoga - or as Greta calls it - oogah, together.

My dad and Lilly ended up writing a book together, the story of The Land Before Time.  They spent hours together working on the book.

While they wrote, I vacuumed and my mom worked on washing windows.  My dad came in and helped a bit too.

Soon after the windows were washed, my parents headed home.  Then, for dinner, Tim and Elizabeth came over.  We made homemade ravioli and used the homemade spaghetti sauce.  Tim and Elizabeth made homemade bread to go with our dinner.  It was amazing!!

After dinner we headed outside to play corn hole toss and other fun in the chilly backyard.

Back inside to calm down - Tim isn't helping!
It was a great weekend but we certainly were ready for some calm time!
