Greta turned 18 months on Thursday and we celebrated by taking her to the doctor for her well child doctor's appointment and three shots. She did a great job at her appointment, warming up to Dr Gang, even doing "ready, set, go" and running from one door in the office to the other. Of course when the shots happened, she was obviously upset by them but recovered quite quickly.
Here are some of her stats:
Height and weight in the 50th percentile
Sleep - taking one nap a day, great ones at daycare, mediocre ones at home. Sleeping fantastically at night for the most part. We put her down still awake and she kicks her legs and sings to herself until she falls asleep. Some nights she cries but she gets herself to sleep without needing our intervention. Most nights she will sleep until 6:30 the next morning, other times she wakes up at 3:30 and needs a pacifier popped in her mouth and she will sleep longer. Some days she will even sleep until 7:00, which is awesome.
Motor skills - she is "running" and prancing, walking, climbing on everything. She especially likes to start up the stairs and giggles when she gets partway up, knowing that she's not supposed to be on the stairs alone. Every time she hears music, she grooves. Giving "turkeys" is another one of her tricks - and she has to give one to every person in the room.
For fun - her two favorite things to do are play with dolls (swaddle, feed, pat, repeat) and put the wooden pizza toppings on and off the wooden slices of pizza and feed them to us. Over and over and over again.

Words - she has a handful of them. Helpful ones like yellow and firefly. Her auditory comprehension is amazing. She is great at following directions. What is particularly helpful is she can nod yes and no, which has made all of our lives much easier. She can say hi and bye very clearly but her timing is off. In the morning she often says hi before she's in the door at Tree Top. Bye usually happens after I'm out the door - or to cars driving away in parking lots.
But most impressive of her words . . .

Food - Greta has a very annoying habit of dumping her food on the floor when she is done eating, but we are slowly getting her to stop. She is also very independent and always wants to feed herself and gets very irritated if we try and help - even to just hold the yogurt cup gets her angry. Macaroni and cheese, apples (bapple), yogurt, toast, cheese, and cereal are some of her favorites.
Books - she is finally interested in stories. It took her awhile to get interested in them, but now we probably read her at least 10 a day. And she even listens to the entire story. Lift-the-flap books tend to be her favorites.
And we'll wrap up with a handful of photos . . .
