Nick was gone the week before Father' Day, presenting at a Green Chemistry conference in Portland, OR.
Here are a few photos he snagged:

Lilly was interested in how airports work, so Nick took some photos and video. He explained how the jetway worked and then when I asked her how they work, she told me the tube sucked the people out of the plane. We figured this might be a good way to deal with the deboarding congestion.
My parents were here Tuesday-Thursday to help out while Nick was gone, which was much appreciated. I am not sure all what we did but we had a nice time and they were very helpful. I also know we hardly took any photos but my dad took a bunch, but he hoards them.
Saturday (as Lilly called it, Father's Day Eve) we went to the Farmer's Market in the morning (free ice cream sandwiches made by a local dairy - so good!) and played in the pool in the afternoon (and of course Lilly rode her bike).

So big!
It was hot at first, and then the wind shifted and started coming off the lake. And then it was COLD. I love the photo of Lilly "reading" on the couch.
We brought pizza to a family who was moving into a new house and hung out there longer than we planned. But they really appreciated the break. Their new house is across the street from a park, so after dinner we headed over there with the kids. On our drive home we saw a double rainbow. I attempted to take some photos, these are the best of the bad:
Now, to the actual day. Nick woke up early and had what sounds like a delightful paddle with his friend Matt. When he got home, he was greeted by excited children and a stack of drawings and his present (new Crocs).
My Daddy:
His name is Nick. He is 33 years old. He is as big as a I don't know, I haven't measured him yet. His hair is black & his eyes are turquoise. His favorite food is tomatoes. He does chemistry at work. He is smart because he knows that I'm his child. He always tells me I have to go to bed better. He likes to do puzzles for fun. My favorite thing to do with him is play soccer. If I could give him anything it would be a mug. I love him because he is my dad. I love you!!

Greta's picture for her dad
We changed the birthday sign that we hadn't taken down to say Happy Father's Day Dad Nick. I wrote Father's, Lilly added a wooly mammoth and the dots to make it fancy.
Can't remember if this was Father's Day Eve or Father's Day

Greta's main job was pulling things out of the bag
The water was not nearly as cold as I was expecting it to be, Lilly and Nick had a great time playing in the water. Greta let me dip her toes in the water before lunch but after lunch she would not let me put her toes in at all.
We went to dinner up in Bayfield at Ethel's at 250. It was a remarkable drive up to Bayfield - Lilly and Greta were in the backseat and happy the entire drive up. Lilly wrote songs in her notebook and Greta played with toys and talked very loudly (especially when we were trying to talk - she was trying to drown us out). Dinner was delicious but somewhat rushed (Greta didn't want to be at the restaurant, so while we waited for food, Nick took her for a walk outside, after I scarfed down half my dinner and we attempted to give Greta some dinner, I took her for a walk). Then we went to the candy shoppe, then the park by the lake. Then home but this time I rode in the back to try and keep Greta awake.
We had a nice day, a great evening, and were happy to celebrate such a great dad!
