First, Friday . . .
Wacky March weather continues here in Ashland. On Good Friday day care was closed, so Nick went into work late, came home for lunch/nap, and then back to work. Greta changed up her plans on us a bit and ended up taking a two hour morning nap, so Lilly had two hours of time with just mom. We played some fun games and some not as fun games (boring for me.)

The afternoon was cloudy and cool but warm compared to what we are used to these days. Greta, Lilly, and I played outside for a long time while we waited for Nick to come home from work. Then our friends Tim and Elizabeth came over for dinner and we played more, grilled brats and veggie burgers, veggies, and had a very nice evening.

We played quite a bit of tag, hid Easter eggs, and Lilly's invented game, asteroids versus dinosaurs. Tim was the T-Rex, the rest of us asteroids sent to chase and get him. Lilly kept wanting the game of tag to be boys playing against one another and the girls playing, so Nick and Tim kept reaching out and tagging each other without moving. Lilly was unimpressed.

Now on to Saturday . . .
We were excited because we were going to take Lilly to the Easter Egg Hunt on the Courthouse lawn. We were also excited because the weather was supposed to be gross - sleet/snow and chilly. We figured the number of people was going to be low and that's our kind of event. Unfortunately the event was moved to the local community center gym, so pretty packed - and more people probably willing to go. Nick stayed home with Greta and Lilly and I went to the "hunt."
The gym was packed with families and eggs were just placed on the ground. Not so much a hunt, but more so a see how many eggs you can pick up. I was curious to see how she was going to handle the crowd and me not going out to pick eggs up with her and she did great! She just walked around, put eggs in her bag and came back to me when she was done. After the "hunt," we went and waited in a short line to get her picture with the Easter Bunny. She was less nervous than when we went to meet Santa, but still kept herself a safe distance away.

 |
| It was snowing instead of sleeting, which I think would have made for a nice "hunt" |
The eggs had candy and some had coins in them. We emptied the candy into her bag, gave back the eggs. Lilly only got one quarter, but she asked me, "how do quarters get behind our ears? Magically?" (My Uncle Mike pulled a quarter from behind her ear at Christmas and she has been intrigued ever since).
We went out to dinner at a diner in town we hadn't been to yet. A former student of mine was working, she was so excited to see me and see the girls. It took me awhile to remember her name (she was one of my first students here in Ashland) but I am proud to say it did eventually come to my mind. She showed off pictures of her little boy. At the end of the time there, they held a drawing for Easter baskets that had been out for awhile. They asked Lilly to draw the names, which she first agreed to do, but then said she changed her mind and started to cry. The owner of the restaurant tried a few more times but she was having none of it. But she did do a good job of telling us she changed her mind and kept her tears to a minimum. Greta did draw one name for them though.

And then on Sunday . . .
Lilly woke up, eager to find her Easter basket. It was hidden in the basket where we store hats and mittens, with her jacket and snow pants piled on top. It took her quite awhile to find it. She quickly found Greta's basket, which was sitting on a rocking chair.

After a breakfast of pancakes, we headed outside to play in the snow. There was enough snow, heavy, packy snow to make one last (hopefully) snow creature for the year. This time we made (mostly Nick) the Easter Bunny. While Nick built the bunny, Greta and I hid Easter eggs, Lilly looked for them.

| The Easter Bunny |
And now we have no snow except for a small pile left behind by the Easter Bunny. Pictures to come later, but Tuesday we went to the park and Lilly was wearing a sleeveless dress. Oh March weather.
