The forecast for Wednesday was rain. A 100% chance of rain. However, when our contractor came in that morning he said there was now a forecast of 3-8 inches of snow. I didn't have school but we sent the girls to daycare - they were having their holiday party. It was also going to give me a chance to clean up the house a bit, pack for our adventures south for the holidays, finish up holiday shopping, and take as long of a shower as I wanted.
I dropped Greta and Lilly off at daycare in the rain and started my errands: the Co-Op, the bakery, the bank, and Walgreens. By the time I was pulling into the driveway, it was about 50% snow and 50% rain. By the time I made it into the house, it was 100% big fluffy, sopping wet snow flakes. Beautiful snow.
Mid-afternoon, Nick and I headed out to Blue Wave on the Bay, a coffee shop and lunch shop, to have some lunch and watch the snow on Lake Superior. Unfortunately, they were switching cooks so there wasn't going to be food for about 30 minutes. But, I did get a decaf vanilla latte and this shot of Lake Superior and the snow falling before we headed back to the car to go find lunch elsewhere.

I am glad Nick did the driving because at this point the roads were pretty gross. And since it is the first time we had any substantial snow this year, people were driving not quite as safely as one would hope they would. We snagged a yummy salad bar lunch at the Co-Op and then finished up some Christmas shopping.
Nick picked up the girls from daycare, where Lilly talked the entire drive home about the snow tires on the car. After some TV and a snack, we all headed outside to play in the snow. It was perfect snow for building a snowman, and since we had so much, we made a giant one.
