I finally finished the dishes, sat down to grade some papers, and Greta started crying. So I had to go up and rock with her instead of grading. She (knock on wood) is back asleep and now it is time for a bowl of ice cream, watch a bit of House, and share some photos from the fun we had playing in the leaves Sunday morning. Then, time for bed.
That evening, we carved Lilly's pumpkin. Our pumpkin patch owner retired, and there, as far as we know, is not a replacement. I'm bummed because it was a fun family tradition. We grew our own pumpkins and got two giant pumpkins (see bottom picture) but they aren't real conducive to turning into jack-o-lanterns. Nick took Lilly to my cousin's alpaca farm to pick up a pumpkin, but they had run out, so instead they picked up a pumpkin at the grocery store. While Halloween is still a ways off, we decided it was okay for Lilly to carve her pumpkin, since we often tell her these last six months that she needs to be patient, to wait.
