Lilly's daycare was closed for three weeks this summer, the last week of July through the second week in August. The Wednesday during the final closed week, we decided to head to the aquarium in Duluth. It was super hot, so we figured a good day to go hang out with some fish. Nick went into work in the morning and then we headed to Duluth to the aquarium. We figured Greta would be good in the van since we had such a nice trip to the cabin. Man alive we were wrong. We stopped in Iron River and grabbed some treats at the delicious - and cheap - bakery. Greta played in the trunk a bit, I tried to get her to sleep but she wasn't having it. Luckily the new van has a nice jump seat between the passenger seats, so I was able to sit between Greta and Lilly to keep Greta happy - although it took a long time. When Greta finally fell asleep, I told stories to Lilly. Stories about doctors and patients.
Once we got to the aquarium I fed Greta sitting in the trunk of the minivan while Nick and Lilly played at the park nearby. Then we all headed into the aquarium. We have another girl who loves the aquarium.

We rushed out of the aquarium when it seemed like it was Greta's nap time. And again, the ride was miserable. She fussed, screamed, cried. Not sure what to do, we pulled over in the Charlie's Bar and Family Restaurant parking lot. I tried feeding Greta and that wasn't what she wanted. Eventually I let her just play in the trunk again, which made her quite happy. Nick and Lilly went in the very stereotypical Northern Wisconsin bar/restaurant and ordered some food. When the food arrived, Greta and I headed inside for some mediocre pizza.
After the not so great dinner, I headed back to feed Greta while Nick and Lilly played by the rocks.
We got back in the car, I sat in the back before any crying could start and Greta did fuss some, but then fell asleep for a large chunk of the drive home. Phew! And while Greta slept, I told Lilly story after story about doctors and patients.
