Well, this was going to be a four month post and life just kept getting in the way. So here's a brief update on Greta before I head to bed. (I do have a few more papers to grade but they will wait until tomorrow).
At her four-month check up these were her stats:
Head circumference: 42 cm (50th percentile)
Weight: 13 pounds 15 ounces (50th percentile)
Length: 26.25 inches (97th percentile)
(Side note - in looking for some other paperwork, I stumbled across Lilly's old growth chart - her stats are eerily similar, even her weight. We feel as though weight-wise Greta was dominating Lilly, for Lilly never had a double chin or chunky thighs, but they are essentially the same!).
Greta has shown herself to be a persistent young thing, so determined to move. Each day she gets a bit stronger and a bit closer to crawling. She has a long way to go but she certainly is motivated. She rolls all the time and is rarely on her back these days, as soon as she is on her back, she flips to her belly.
She also loves watching people, especially her big sister. When we carry her, we have to carry her facing outward to keep her content. This is probably a big reason for her enjoyment of daycare. Lots of chaos to keep her eyes on there.
As for sleep, she's hit or miss. For awhile we were getting an amazing seven hour stretch from her and then she'd be up every three or so hours after that. Some nights, she follows the same eating pattern from the day, up every three hours. Unfortunately many mornings around 4:30 she decides to poop and is up for awhile after that. So some mornings we're up with her from 4:30-6:00 before she's back asleep . . . and by then it is nearly time to get up for the work day. Our usual plan is we both get up and try and keep her as calm as possibly while chaining her diaper before feeding. I feed and get her back to sleep, Nick goes back to bed. If she wakes up between feedings, Nick gets her back to sleep.
Napwise she's doing well, especially at daycare. None of these naps need to be in someone's arms, a welcome change (on the rare occasion she does nap in our arms after a failed attempt). Overall, she's on a fairly regular sleeping schedule now. Morning time isn't totally consistent, waking up between 7 and 7:30 but then she takes her first nap two hours later, and all subsequent naps are two hours after she wakes up. Bedtime is the same as Lilly, between 7 and 7:30.
Feeding-wise she's finally switched to every three hours, which really has expanded our ability to do things. It is especially nice now that with my training plan I have to go out for longer runs. Being slow, a four mile run takes me awhile, so it is nice having a bit more flexibility with when I go and how long I can be gone. And most of the time now these feedings are going smoothly.
We think she might be teething for she is a drooling machine (and she is chewing on everything she can get into her mouth). This would also coincide with the not great sleep, but so does trying so hard to move, and transitioning to daycare.
And here are photos - what you are really here to check out. I was going to Picmonkey collage them and do captions but it is bedtime now. Who knows when the girl is going to wake us up, or Lilly is going to have a nightmare or need to go to the bathroom - so squeezing in sleep when we can is a must!
PS Greta woke up as I was going to look up her actual measurements, this post is getting finished forty-five minutes after I was hoping to go to bed.
