Saturday night Lilly and I walked to Dairy Queen. We went partially because I really wanted Dairy Queen and partly because Lilly handled getting a huge spit up on her head the night before like a champ (no tears, but was close and was able to laugh about it shortly after we washed it out of her hair). On our walk I was pushing an empty stroller and Lilly was walking s-l-o-w-l-y along side picking up acorns, sticks and other sidewalk treasures. Close to Dairy Queen, two little boys came running across the street toward us. This is essentially our interaction:
Little Boy #1: What is your name?
Lilly: Lilly Kuchta Robertson
Me: Ask them their names.
Little Boy #2 (climbing on the stroller): Where is the baby?
Me: At home, we are pushing this in case she wants to ride later.
Little Boy #1 runs back across the street, his shorts falling down showing us a little bit of cheek.
Little Boy #2 (trying to put a Batman ring on Lilly's finger): Here you go, here you go.
Lilly: I don't want it (squirreling away from him).
Me: Tell him thank you anyway
Lilly: Thank you anyway
Little Boy #2 runs back across the street.
Good to know Lilly's heart cannot be won with cheap jewelry.
When we walked past their house on our way back home (me pushing Lilly this time) she asked if they looked both ways before they crossed the street. I assured her they did, even though I am pretty sure they didn't.
