At the end of each school year, Lilly's day care has a program and picnic. The three-five year olds learn a bunch of songs and hand movements, perform for everyone, the kids going off to kindergarten "graduate" and then everyone goes outside to eat food from the potluck. June 4th we gathered at Tree Top for our second showing - this time to watch Lilly in her first performance.
Last year we had to arrive early and play with Lilly while the older kids practiced and got ready for their grand entrance. This year we had to arrive early enough to get a seat to watch Lilly's first performance. We saw the show going two ways - she was either going to ham it up and love performing, or she was going to chicken out the second she saw the crowd. She was a ham. After each song she jumped up and down with excitement. Lilly made it through all the songs but the last one, Slippery Fish, which she sings all the time at home. Greta slept through the entire performance, which bodes well for her napping at day care. Partway through one of the songs, Lilly asked me (while she was still on "stage") where Greta was. Very sweet that she wanted to make sure her little sister was there.

If I had taken a group shot, you could notice that every kid is wearing really nice clothes. Lilly is wearing a great dress - and pajama bottoms and mismatched socks. Next year I will bring an actual camera and not rely on my phone to take these blurry photos. Not that I have a phone to take pictures with . . .
Then it was time for mingling and eating dinner. It was very cold and kind of drizzling, so Nick stayed inside with Greta. She was enthralled watching people walk around and tracked them every where. She stared at the Mat Man on the ceiling. That night, Greta slept for at least five hours straight - maybe she had pulled six that night (that was a long time ago and she's actually slept that long other nights too!). Anyway, we were pretty pumped and wanted a program Friday night too!
I was waiting to post about the program to see if I could get a video of her singing one of the songs, but any time the camera comes out she just acts goofy. Maybe some other time.
