Mother's Day

It was cold here in Ashland on Mother's Day.  The wind was coming off the lake, it was very cloudy, and eventually rainy, so we skipped the hike we had tentatively planned.  We really didn't do anything special for the big day other than go to the Black Cat coffee shop for warm drinks, a delicious scone and quiche.  It was still a nice day.

A BIG hot chocolate.  Much ended up on her face and jacket.  Even
her hat was hit.
After her nap and some Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, Lilly and Nick headed to the grocery store.  When they came back home, Lilly changed jackets (because Mr. Rogers does) and played with her sister.  These are my new favorite pictures of the two.

Lilly painted a lovely picture for me at day care and also answered the following sentence starters.

Since it is difficult to read, here's what it says:

My mom's name is Megan Kuchta Robertson.
She is 38 years old.
Her hair is like brown.
Before she had kids she used to take a bath in a blue plastic bathtub.
When I was born my mom said, "Play with this toy."
My mom is great at working.
Her favorite food is peanut butter and jelly and carrots.
I love it when she plays with me.
If no one was looking my mom would check on me.

I try not to be offended that she thinks I am 38.  My favorite two are what I did before I had kids (she has been intrigued by the blue plastic bathtub that we have for Greta) and what I said when she was born (you would think that perhaps she'd have a sense of the capabilities of babies by now).

I wasn't feeling photogenic yesterday, so didn't want a photo of me and the girls.  It was going to happen today and we were just going to pretend it happened yesterday.  Lilly was not at all cooperative though and wouldn't even let me sit on the couch by her.  So, perhaps Tuesday will be the day I get a photo of the three of us.

Being a mom isn't easy, but it certainly is the most rewarding part of my life.
