Nana and Grandpa Visit

As promised, photos and stories from my parents' visit.  My parents arrived on Saturday in their new Prius V (without snow tires - yet) just moments before Lilly and I returned from the library.  They played and read books with Lilly and then my mom put Lilly down for her nap.  Nick and I ran off to do some work at his office.  We were going to stay and work longer but one of his students mentioned the hotel she worked at was booked due to the ice caves, so we left early to beat the dinner rush.

We went to The Deepwater for dinner and Lilly repeatedly informed us that she did like cherries after getting a taste of her first kiddie cocktail.  And it was a good thing we went early, by the time we were done eating, the restaurant was full.  Much of the conversation we overheard involved the ice caves and I found out later that over 10,000 people went the first weekend they opened.   After dinner it was back to our house for another birthday celebration with a present of a train set, cupcakes, and ice cream.

Getting to lick frosting off the candle and reading books with Grandpa.

Sunday morning Lilly willingly went down with my parents and played with them while Nick and I slept until 9:45!!  I can't remember the last time both of us got to sleep that late or the last time we let ourselves indulge in sleeping that late.  It was fantastic.

Reading grown up books, talking gibberish.

It was finally warm enough to actually play outside for more than three minutes, so Lilly went outside with my parents and Nick and had a grand old time.  I stayed inside and started to grade essays but made a rather half-hearted attempt.  My dad snagged these photos while they were out playing and sledding.

They came back in for hot chocolate and lunch.  Lilly had some more "work" to do, sending emails to a few people and writing things down on paper.

Nick and I ran a few more errands and then headed home so my parents could head back to Eau Claire.  It was a quick visit, but a fun time celebrating Lilly's birthday, hanging out, and getting some work done around the house!  I always love having my parents come and visit, not only so we can get work done around the house but for the great conversations we have with them as well.

  1. Oh my those sledding pictures are adorable. I'm envious of enough snow for a little hill and sled. :)
