Identity Crisis

Lilly has changed identities.  She is no longer Baby Lion.  However, she is not Lilly.  She is now Small Puppy.  And we are not Mommy Lion and Daddy Lion.  We are not Mommy Puppy and Daddy Puppy.  We started off as Owner and Other Owner (interchangeably).  Now we are at least Mommy Owner and Daddy Owner.

Small Puppy likes to play fetch, which we have decided is the best game ever.  We can just sit and throw the ball and Small Puppy will chase after it.  It requires no thinking or actual playing on our part.  When she brings the ball back, we may ask her to sit, stay and then we'll throw the ball again.

It was a fairly nice weekend, so we took our puppy to the park for the first time since winter arrived.  Our puppy was thrilled to be back at the park.  More than once did she say, "I am so happy to be at the Purple Park!" (I did make her wear real pants to the park for I knew it was going to be muddy).

At night Small Puppy sleeps in her cage.  Her owners have to tie it closed at night.  And when she woke up at 3:00 in the morning on Saturday and needed to go to the bathroom and get a drink of water, she reminded me that I needed to untie her cage first.  At three in the morning this identity is firmly there.

Her box that was once a crib is now her downstairs cage.  She needed to eat her dog food out of her bowl.  And she likes to "chew" on bones.  The biggest drawback to this stage is licking.  She has licked us and we have clearly established that this is not okay and that she can only pretend.  This seems to be the hardest part of her new identity.

Sunday we went to our friend's house for brunch (their youngest daughter is two days younger than Lilly) and Lilly wore her puppy outfit to their house.

It will be interesting to see how long Small Puppy is around and what her next identity will be!
