Identity Crisis #2

The puppy phase did not last nearly as long as the baby lion phase.  Our daughter is no longer a puppy, she is a baby owl.  This change was instigated when I put her owl hat on before we went out on Saturday morning to run errands.

So, now she sleeps in a nest, eats worms (we'll get into the actual diets of owls later in life), and occasionally needs me to sit on the egg so she can hatch.  On our way to the post office she flapped her wings for half a block.  Inside the post office she hooted like an owl.  Luckily she did this fairly quietly and hardly any one else was there.  They smiled and thought it was cute (I am going to infer that is what they were thinking at least).

Somewhere over the course of the day on Saturday we also shifted from being a regular family of owls to a royal family of owls.  Nick is King Daddy Owl, I am Mommy Princess Owl, and she is Baby Princess Owl.  I have tried many times to upgrade my status to Queen, but Lilly has to be a queen too, no matter how I try to reason with her (which may be my main problem, trying to reason with a three year old).

Later that evening when she was in the bathtub I again pointed out to her that the baby I am carrying is Baby Owl and wouldn't it be confusing with two baby owls?  Lilly just simply said, "You have two baby owls.  One in your belly and one in the bathtub." Duh, Mom.

After our errands we went to the park across from Shopko.  The lake is
still mostly frozen but you can see some open water.

We had some really beautiful warm days.  Now we are having beautiful
freezing cold days.  It probably doesn't help that the winds are coming
off the lake, which, is still frozen.
Any guesses as to what persona Lilly will take on next?
