Lilly has been shoving her hair out of her face for weeks now. We've been patiently waiting for her bangs to grow out, Lilly not so much. The rest of her hair was getting pretty long and unruly as well, so we decided it was time for her first official haircut. On Monday, after watching the garbage man, we headed to Upper Cut (attached to the Holiday Gas Station . . . ) to get her haircut.
We talked briefly before the haircut (while waiting for the garbage man) and how once the hair is cut off, the woman won't be able to put it back, etc. I promised Smarties (Lilly's favorite candy) if she did a good job and no fussing. The girl was PERFECT. She sat still (relatively) and did not shed one tear, fuss, whine or anything. It may have helped that there was a toy sea plane for her to play with while the woman cut her hair. Julie, the stylist who cut her hair, was just perfect as well. Reassuring, calm, chatted with Lilly (and Lilly actually talked some with her!). Lilly wanted to share her Smarties with the stylist, so we gave her a roll on our way out (she had mentioned sharing Smarties with the woman with her haircut, so I grabbed an extra before we left). I was super pleased with everything - including how the haircut turned out. While her adorable curls are pretty much gone, the new cut is pretty cute too.
