Beep Beep!

That is the sound of me tooting my own horn.  Back at the start of the year I made it my resolution to do planks and push ups every night.  My goal was to be able to do ten regular push ups by the end of the year.  I am proud to say that I have been successful in this resolution.  In fact the only nights I have missed are nights when I have had terrible allergies or a bad cold.  And I even did double other nights to make up for the nights I did miss (mostly).  Some nights I was even already in bed, realized I forgot, got out of bed and did my push ups and planks.  That is dedication.

Well folks, here it is the Summer Solstice and last night I did ten regular push ups (numbers 8, 9, and 10 were extremely difficult).  That's right, we're halfway through 2014 and I have met my goal.  Now to do 15-20 come December 31.

The cardio workout resolution was an epic fail, but I am now getting back into running thanks to the couch to 5K app.  Then mid-July I am going to start training for a 10K - I am taking a class (workshop?) that meets every Tuesday night to train for either the half-marathon or the 10K.  I paid $40 and will get a training schedule, tips/advice on how to be a faster, better runner, and of course a shirt.  I have found I am much better at exercising if I have paid money to do so.

And other big news . . . . today I also got my hair chopped.  Probably seven inches or so.

  1. 1. Wahoo on your pushups! That's awesome. Pushups are my nemesis. I try to avoid them at all costs (which is incredibly easy to do) so to set a goal for them is awesome (for you. Not for me.) :)

    2. Hair looks great! It sure was curly!! The short will be a fun new change of pace!

    3. When I "toot my own horn" it goes "Toot toot!" rather than "Beep beep!" I never even thought of beeping. Thanks for forcing me to rethink my own self-praise system...
