Photos, Funnies, and Stories

It is snowing here again.  We played outside a bit, but Lilly's doll (Baby Dane - named after her day care teacher's baby) also needed to get dressed to go outside.  Who carried the doll?  Mom.
Yes, Baby Dane needed a snowsuit and glasses.  The hood worked as the hat.

Checking out Nick's "funny new bike" or his new snow bike.  He loves it.

Crying while holding her baby.  It was my turn again.

Going for a ride with monkey when we came back in.

Here are some other miscellaneous photos from the last month.
We were playing hockey.  Lilly needed to put on her helmet to play.  Helmets and hockey are a big concern.  When we read some of her hockey books and the players aren't wearing helmets, she says, "Helmet?  Go get it."  She's got her dad's safety sense!

New birthday outfit from Grandma Robertson - of course Lilly added the glasses.

Cheese!

One of my students had this bib made for Lilly when she was born.  But then she lost it.  And finally found it.  And then finally remembered to bring it in to school.  When I showed it to Lilly she had to wear it right away, even though dinner was at least 30 minutes away.  She's talking on her "phone," an outdated iPod touch.  And yes, she chose the boots, sunglasses, and leg warmers.  The leg warmers were suggested when she refused to wear any pants under the dress.

Two weekends ago it finally warmed up, making it possible to actually build and play with the ridiculous amount of snow we have.  The snowmen fell apart the next day.  Lilly kept saying, "uh oh snowman" each time we'd walk into the house.

 Playing dress up!

A few other "funnies"/stories/things we want to remember:

When one of us is putting Lilly to bed upstairs, the other is cleaning up the kitchen.  If we need something (usually a particular book), we'd call down to the other person.  For some reason, it seems like I would call down for things more than Nick would, so Lilly got used to hearing me call, "Nick!" So when Nick was upstairs with Lilly and needed something from me, Lilly called out, "Nick!"

While reading The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, Lilly saw Little Cat C and called out "captain!"  (For when a hockey player has a "C" on his/her jersey, it means s/he is the captain).

Lilly is finally taking her baths in the upstairs tub.  It happened rather spontaneously, I was talking with Dianne about how Lilly will need to take baths in the upstairs tub by the end of April when Nick has his surgery because I wasn't going to be filling up a big tub of water in the kitchen on my own.  Lilly then headed upstairs and took a bath in the upstairs tub, no tears or trepidation.  She's now taken about four baths upstairs and some have even been without bribes.

It was during one of these baths that she impressed me with her problem-solving skills.  She was holding onto a bar of soap, or attempting to at least.  It kept slipping out of her hands so she asked for a pair of mittens.  This would have totally solved her problem.

Another bath-related story - before one bath I took off her diaper in the play room and she was concerned she didn't have a diaper on.  I just told her to not pee.  She walked over to the "tub" in the kitchen chanting, "don't pee."  This is now chanted before every bath when she gets her diaper taken off.

Lilly loves to go to the library.  We went to the Co-Op and the Bakery last Friday after work and Lilly requested to go to the library while we were at the checkout at the Co-Op.  In fact, she specifically said, "library? hockey books."  The woman at the checkout was entertained.

The parrot at the Great Lakes Aquarium tears and shreds garbage (paper, boxes, etc), leaving all the bits on the floor.  This is a big mess according to Lilly and the parrot needs to "clean up".  When she sees any parrots now she says, "big mess."

Finally, another big-mess related story - Dianne was up a few weeks ago and made Lilly oatmeal for breakfast.  The oatmeal boiled over, making a big mess.  Quite a few days later, I made Lilly oatmeal for breakfast.  When I opened the microwave, Lilly said, "big mess" but I pointed out to Lilly that I did not make a big mess.  She then amended her statement to, "grandma - big mess."

I am sure there are more but it is 10:00, which means time to get ready for bed.

Edit: Two more I've remembered since then:

1. Whenever we pick Lilly up and ask her what she had for lunch that day, her response is always cookies with a big grin on her face.  This past Friday (March 21) I asked her what she had for lunch and she said, "little cookies."

2. When people bike they are stinky and need to shower.  This includes pictures of people riding bikes.
