Today Lilly turned two! We were supposed to have visits from grandparents this weekend but due to the massive snow storm, they were unable to come. My parents started the trip up but turned around because the roads were too slippery and gross. So what was going to be a rockin' birthday weekend turned into a calm, quiet weekend. Which was still really nice.
On Sunday evening we went to our friend Tim and Elizabeth's house for the gold medal match in hockey (we don't get the channel) and dinner. Lilly really opened up to them this time, making faces with Tim, giving them knucks, asking them to blow out the candles. It was a lot of fun to see. She also watched some hockey, but luckily the girl isn't mesmerized by TV (T-B-B in Lilly speak), so actually spent a lot of time doing other things (jumping on the couch, building towers with Duplos, making faces, etc).
Tree Top makes a big deal out of birthdays. Each kid draws the birthday boy or girl a picture and they get assembled into a little book. My favorite is the "Princess without Eyes". She gets a birthday crown (Lilly's had hockey sticks and pucks on it) and she got to pick a little present out of a box. We brought chocolate chip cookies (when we ask Lilly what she had for lunch that day she always tells us cookies) and the kids sing to her before she blows out a candle. It was nice knowing that while I was working on her birthday, she was loved and well taken care of.
Here she was last year . . . .
And this year . . .

Happy Birthday, Lilly!
