School was closed the last two days. Lilly absolutely loves day care and we need to get her back in a routine after a few weeks off from her normal schedule. We let her sleep in both days (normally we wake her up on weekdays, she slept until 7:45 on Monday and 7:35 on Tuesday) and brought her to Tree Top later than usual. That left me alone in the house while Nick went in to work to prep for classes and try to get a paper out. It was nice but by 4:30 I was eager to see my family.
On Monday, I tackled the downstairs and the linens closet. The linens closet has been on my list for months now. It feels so great to have it taken care of.

After (I apologize for the flipped photos. Think of it as an exercise for your brain):
I also made banana bread, washed and dried (but did not fold) three loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher and straightened up the kitchen in general, and wrote all my thank you notes and Lilly's. All in all, a very productive day. By mid-afternoon I knew I wasn't going to have school on Tuesday, so I slowed down a little bit but still managed to get a whole heck of a lot done. It felt awesome. Then when Lilly came home I could just play with her and have nothing else to worry about.
Our friends suggested we throw some boiling water in the air, so that evening we did. Here are some photos:
On Tuesday, I tackled the upstairs office area, did some vacuuming, hung some pictures and folded the laundry. I did a few other miscellaneous tasks around the house but the office area was the big accomplishment.

The upstairs office area has been a mess and driving me crazy since before Lilly was born. I still have a giant stack of paper to sort through but all the other miscellaneous items are dusted and put away.
Also hanging over my head for ages has been hanging some pictures in Lilly's room. The top two photos are her room before, the bottom two with the pictures added. I don't know if I've ever posted a picture of the cool curtains my mom made for Lilly. I also hung an Eric Carle picture above her dresser but didn't get a photo.
Tomorrow is back to the grindstone and I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of teaching. The semester's end is approaching and we need to get our Romeo and Juliet sock puppets made and scenes performed, essays written, and vocabulary quizzes taken. It is going to be 32 degrees this weekend. Perhaps we'll wear shorts when we go to the sleigh rally.

The task now with the linen closet is to keep it organized.

We also tried to blow bubbles and have them freeze but the bubbles weren't cooperating.

Two days in the house alone! That sounds divine! I have a lot of counters and shelves and closets that look like your before pictures.
