This weekend is Apple Fest in Bayfield. I've heard upwards of 50,000 people show up to the town of 300 people for the weekend. What does that mean for us? We stay as far away from Bayfield as possible. We're not fest people, we're not crowd people, and we're not doing these things in the cold rain people. And it was a rainy, rainy weekend.
That does not mean though, that we did not have a great weekend. We did.
Saturday morning we had pancakes and played around the house while it poured down rain outside. We also successfully got Lilly in a soapy tub of water. The attempts this past week to get her in the tub were met with tears, but not wanting our daughter to be the stinky kid, we thought we'd try a tupperware storage bin on the kitchen floor. Her first reaction was the same as the tub, but we got her to start playing with the water with some measuring cups and after about five minutes outside the bin she finally stepped in - and played for a long time. At first we thought to ourselves, hopefully she'll remember this so next time we pull out the tub she'll be excited. Then, when she was all done, she started running toward Nick and slipped and fell backwards on the kitchen floor. So . . . hopefully she won't remember that little bit!
In the afternoon, Nick went to an admissions event while I worked on straightening up the house. Then I went and had my butt kicked in a workout session at a new fitness center opening up in Ashland, Ignite Fitness. It was Jungle Gym Suspension training - so 40 minutes of planks, push-ups, squats, and loads of other arm, leg, and ab workouts - all from straps hanging from a metal frame. I am very sore. Very, very, very sore.
When I got home, Nick and Lilly were outside, despite the cold and the rain. Lilly really wanted to play in the dirt from the front yard and we were mostly successful keeping her out of it. The evening was spent playing inside, including dress up. I unfortunately missed the chance to get the picture of her wearing the dress and my tennis shoes.
Sunday we headed to Duluth to revisit the Great Lakes Aquarium. I mentioned to Lilly that we were going to see fish and she walked around repeating, "pfish" and put her shoes and jacket on, ready and raring to go. The car ride was a little long but we made it there and Lilly was super excited to see the fish. It was great fun watching her run to each tank, squat down and peer in at the fish. Many of the fish were greeted with, "oooh!" We picked a great time to go, there was hardly anyone else there, so there was no waiting for anything and we didn't have to avoid the boats at the end like we did last time. The camera battery was running low and I still haven't figured out quite how to take good pictures at the aquarium, but here are a few.
The girl actually fell asleep in the car on the way home, while excellent because it allowed me to take a nap too, but not so great because it was short. So we had to attempt to put her down for a second nap when we returned home. We're not sure how much sleeping she did, but she was up in her room for another 45 minutes. The fun game for the evening? Find Lilly. When she was "hiding" on the rug in the front hallway.

| Yes, I am aware the vest is on backwards. However, it was the only way Lilly would let me put it on her. Also, we need to remember to bring a second outfit next time we go. |
