Why Tri?

We made a very brief visit to Eau Claire this past weekend.  For some reason, my mom agreed to do the Eau Claire Sprint Triathlon with me.  I did the swimming and biking, she did the run.  The official time for us seems to be messed up on their results for us (a woman I know passed me up the hill after the swim, so I know I swam faster than her.  Her swim time is 5 minutes faster than mine and they have no bike time for me), so I will only share with you our unofficial times:

Swim (500 meters): 10 minutes (plus a bit to make it up to the top of the hill) - transition that took way too long
Bike (17 miles): 1:17 - (average speed 13.3 mph - WICKED headwind on the way back in)
Run (5K): 39:59

I had fun, am motivated to register for the local triathlon that I've paid to do the last two years but have been too sick to do, and am proud of my mom for pushing herself to actually run - she trained religiously which I find tremendously impressive.  And our goal - not to finish last.  We didn't finish last, and we weren't even the last place relay team!

Here are two photos - one of me on the bike and of my mom and me at the finish.
