Seven Months

Lilly is a technically seven and a half months old now, but here are some photos of her at seven months and her new tricks.

Lilly 9/25/12 - Seven Months

What a happy girl!

She's become quite adept at pulling herself up on everything.  Her laundry basket is still her go-to, but she'll pull herself up on chairs, coffee tables, walls, people, etc.  I have yet to see it, but this past Tuesday she pulled herself up on our TV stand and started doing pull-ups, swinging her feet in the air.

The laundry basket has also become her own little climbing gym, she'll pull herself up on that, get on top on her belly and then put herself in a sitting position.  (I apologize that the photos are not quite centered, nor do you see her entire head, but I took these one handed so she didn't tumble off the basket.  Yes, I chose safety over a great photo.)

On her throne, surveying all she rules.
And she's up!

The first of October, it looked like Lilly was getting SUPER close to crawling.  Nick and I had a bet going - he thought she'd be crawling by the end of the week, I thought end of the second week.  I won the bet - but unfortunately we didn't bet anything but pride.  Next time . . . I've tried to upload a brief video, but technology is conspiring against me.

Lilly crawled from the middle of the room, pulled herself right up and looked at me with this bright shining face.  Duck was in her mouth the entire time.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.  That's her babble of choice.  No cute mama or dada, just blah, blah, blah.  She has also recently discovered her tongue and blowing raspberries.  Spit goes everywhere.  It is pretty darn cute though.

We were worried about how she'd do at daycare.  She spent the first six months of her life with just dad and mom.  This was apparently the most boring part of her life.  Being around chaos, other kids makes Lilly sooooooooo happy!  According to Katherine and Meghan (the moms who watch her), she just watches the other kids, laughs and climbs up on them.  Katherine also has three dogs.  Lilly will apparently just belly laugh when they come running into the house and lick her.  Nick says when Oppenheimer, one of the dogs, is barking when he drops her off, she grins ear to ear.  Weekends must be so dull.  She has transitioned from one childcare person to another with no difficulty - she just goes with the flow.  Very unexpected considering how difficult transitions were for her during her first few months of life.  As long as there are toys, things to pull up on, and chaos, she's a happy camper.

She's not sleeping through the night but we do get about 4 hours between feedings, and her feedings are very quick and efficient.  And lately she's been great about going down between 7:45 and 8:15 and staying asleep until 11:30 or so.  A nice window for Nick and I to talk and catch up on how things are going grade papers.  Then up one more time between 2:30 and 3:30 for another feeding.  Up for the day between 6:30-8:00.  Usually on the mornings where we didn't get everything set the night before are the days she decides to be up at 6:30, so we don't get any time to get ready ourselves before dealing with her. Napping has improved dramatically - she'll take a nap about every two to three hours, and usually at least one of them now is between 60 and 90 minutes.

As for solid foods, she's only really loving squash but will tolerate sweet potatoes, avocados, carrots, pears and peaches.  Applesauce is still not an interest.  Oh - and rice puffs.  Those are a big hit.  And we're not sure why - those things are so bland!

Avocado.  She tried feeding herself . . .

She's really developing her personality, and it is a very happy, curious personality.  Nick was vacuuming the kitchen the other day and she scooted herself from this sitting room to the kitchen to see what was making the noise.  She'll follow people when they leave a room.  It is so much fun watching her discover her world.

Finally, we took her to the pumpkin patch last Sunday, October 7th.  Here are some photos - she had a really fun time!
